Organic gardening is a great way to enjoy fresh, healthy, and natural foods. By growing your own organic vegetables and fruits, you are maintaining control over the food your family eats. You will know without a doubt that no pesticides, herbicides, or other tampering occurred.
Organic means you will not be using any chemicals for fertilizer or to control weeds and pests. Instead, you will do so by natural means. This can be done in a few ways. First, start with a plan. Decide exactly what plants you are growing and the best location for them. To control weeds, use a spade to slice into the roots. Flip the weed over, covering it with dirt. The leaves will nourish the soil as they decompose. Use mulch to further control weeds and to nourish your plants. When it comes to pests, the best method will partially depend on what plants and pests you have. An example is to use lady bugs to control aphids. Making your yard bird friendly will also reduce the amount of pests. Make sure you thoroughly wash all of your produce. Even though it was organically grown, dirt, fungus, and other natural contaminants can still get onto your fruits and veggies.
Save money with organic gardening. This is also an excellent way to get in touch with nature and to teach your children about the natural world. Choose to eat wholesome and healthy foods that have not been altered or affected by chemicals. Enjoy your own organic garden!
